PBI is Committed to safety!

PBI - Precision Blasting, Inc. has developed their Safety & Health Program to help all employees understand their responsibilities and our commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Each individual is responsible to work without injury to self and others, to report all unsafe conditions and to work in compliance with our work rules and all applicable laws.

Fitness for Duty

Precision Blasting, Inc. is dedicated to providing a workforce that is fit for duty.  We strive to ensure that our employees are rested, unimpaired, and physically qualified for their job duties.

Physical Examinations

Each potential employee undergoes an extensive physical examination before they are considered for job assignment.  Every employee will then undergo an annual physical examination to maintain a status of “medically qualified.”  Physical examinations include:

  • Medical Surveillance for Lead
  • Spirometry
  • Audiogram
  • Respirator Fit Test
  • Pulmonary Function Test
  • Urinalysis
  • General Physical

Drug Screening

  • All drug screens are 11-panel.  Collection of specimens is directly observed by medical professionals.  Potential employees are required to successfully pass a drug screen before job assignment is considered.  Other instances when drug screening takes place:

    • Annually
    • Random (20% per quarter)
    • Post-Accident/Injury
    • Reasonable Cause

Medical Surveillance

  • Precision Blasting, Inc. performs the following surveillance programs to ensure the health and safety of employees:
    • Industrial Hygiene Monitoring – completed once every 3 years
    • Hearing Conservation
    • Lead/ZPP Monitoring

Training

Precision Blasting, Inc. ensures that each employee, before job assignment, possesses the knowledge and competency to maintain the highest level of safety for themselves and those around them. New employees must successfully complete 28 hours of training prior to initial assignment and current employees must complete refresher courses each year. The specific topics that employees are trained in are as follows:
