Camera Services
Working in conjunction with a firm that specializes in manufacturing inspection systems, we have designed and built a portable camera system that can be used in environments up to 2500 degrees F. The purpose is to inspect for fouling prior to blasting or to determine the effectiveness after blasting.

High Temperature Blasting
Since 1991 PBI has performed industrial explosive services in high temperature environments. In some cases this process is referred to as "on-line blasting".
By keeping the explosives relatively cool, we are able to place and detonate shots at will in furnaces, hoppers, bag houses, precipitators and tube assemblies.
Often times our videography services may be concurrently used to evaluate the effectiveness of the blasting.

Power Plants
Whether it is cleaning boilers for safety purposes, removing slag to improve performance, or removing massive buildup of clinkers, our teams of experienced and well qualified personnel will perform these blasting services in a safe and expedient manner.
We have the expertise to use either electric or nonelectric initiation systems, employ binaries or linear explosives and use such applications in an "on-line" or "off-line" mode.
Applications include the removal of hardened deposits from ash hoppers, furnace walls, platens, pendants, curtains, tube bundles, fly ash silos, coal silos, bag houses, scrubbers, precipitators, and stackers.

Paper Mills
Even though power boilers are small in size compared to utility boilers, our explosive services are a safe and expedient way to clean the boilers during an outage. Also because of their size, they are a good candidate for our High Temperature Blasting process.
Recovery boilers that use the Kraft process may be cleaned with our High Temperature Blasting process, thereby extending their run time between outages.

Conventional Blasting
Conventional blasting may involve using binary explosives or linear explosives detonated with either electric or nonelectric detonators. Applications include blasting in hoppers, furnaces, tube bundles, silos, bag houses, precipitators, scrubbers, and reactors.
Specialty applications include refractory removal in bottom ash hoppers, blasting in ceramic or rubber lined vessels.
